Professional Restoration & Testing

Before Restoration

We inspected both ADS L1290/2 speakers before service, including the cabinets, grilles, woofer, midrange and tweeter sections, crossover/L-pad assemblies, rear terminals, internal connections and overall acoustic operation.
Our inspection identified light age-related cosmetic wear on the cabinet surfaces and a service need in the crossover/L-pad section.

During Restoration

Our technicians serviced this pair according to the condition found during inspection.
We addressed the documented cosmetic wear and cleaned and detailed the walnut-veneer cabinets, front baffles, metal grilles and exterior surfaces.
The crossover/L-pad assemblies were serviced to support reliable operation and consistent sound performance.
Service photographs document the installed ADS 206-0359 woofers, 206-0215 midrange drivers and 206-0117 tweeters, together with individual electrical resistance checks.

After Restoration

After service, we tested both speakers as complete systems.
We verified bass, midrange and treble output, overall acoustic quality and normal left/right operation.
Final sound checks confirmed good operation across the major frequency sections before the pair was prepared for sale.

Sound Character

The ADS L1290/2 delivers the balanced, controlled presentation associated with classic ADS designs.
Its dual acoustic-suspension woofers provide tight, extended bass, while the dedicated soft-dome midrange and tweeter produce clear vocals, smooth upper frequencies, and precise stereo imaging.
The system works especially well with jazz, rock, classical, acoustic music, and other recordings where tonal balance and detail are important.

Cosmetic Condition

This pair presents very well overall in restored vintage condition. The Walnut veneer cabinets retain their classic ADS appearance with normal age-related wear.
