Rated at 160 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 200 watts per channel into 4 ohms, the KR-9600 delivers the power reserve and control needed for many large vintage loudspeakers.

This specific unit was opened, inspected, repaired, serviced, and tested by HQaudios before being offered for sale.

Professional Electronic Restoration

Before restoration, this KR-9600 was opened and carefully inspected by HQaudios. The power amplifier sections, power-related circuitry, capacitors, semiconductor devices, controls, switches, wiring, and internal connections were checked for age-related deterioration and proper operation.

Power Amplifier Service

One TA-200W power amplifier pack was replaced as part of the repair.

Additional power-stage semiconductor devices were replaced where required, including four complementary power transistors.
Two of the replaced devices are 2SC1403 transistors.

Electrolytic Capacitor Replacement

A total of 28 electrolytic capacitors were replaced:

• 8 × 470µF / 100V
• 10 × 470µF / 35V
• 10 × 470µF / 63V

These components were replaced in the receiver’s power and supporting circuitry to address aging electronic parts and support dependable operation.

Controls, Switches & Internal Service

Rotary controls, selector switches, push switches, internal connections, and related contact points were inspected and serviced as required. Internal wiring and soldered connections were also checked during service.

Final Testing

• Left and right audio channels checked
• Speaker outputs tested
• Input functions checked
• AM/FM tuner operation checked
• Meters, controls, and switches verified
