PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Introduced in 1977, the JBL L19 is a compact two-way bass-reflex bookshelf loudspeaker from JBL’s classic L-Series.
The system combines an 8-inch JBL 116A woofer with the LE26 cone-type high-frequency driver, providing a classic JBL two-way configuration in a manageable cabinet size.
Its factory crossover frequency of 2,500 Hz integrates the woofer and tweeter sections, while a continuously variable rear-panel High-Frequency Level Control allows adjustment of the treble balance to suit different listening rooms and personal preferences.
The JBL L19 offers the engaging sound character associated with classic JBL loudspeakers, combining controlled low-frequency reproduction with detailed upper-frequency performance.
This pair features walnut veneer cabinetry, contrasting black front baffles and matching brown fabric grilles. The speakers have been serviced and tested by HQaudios, with attention to their technical operation and vintage cosmetic presentation.

HQAUDIOS SERVICE & TESTING

Before Service
When this JBL L19 speaker pair arrived at our workshop, our technicians inspected the cabinets, JBL 116A low-frequency drivers, JBL LE26 high-frequency drivers, rear-panel adjustment controls and speaker terminal assemblies.
Woofer Inspection: The 116A woofer assemblies were examined for cone condition, surround integrity, spider condition and signs of voice-coil rubbing.
Tweeter Inspection: The LE26 high-frequency drivers were inspected separately and evaluated for electrical and acoustic operation.
Electrical Evaluation: Driver DC resistance (DCR) measurements were evaluated for consistency with expected values for the corresponding driver models.
Crossover & Controls: The crossover assemblies and rear-panel high-frequency level controls were examined as part of the speaker-system inspection.

During Service
Our technicians carried out service and cleaning work while preserving the characteristic JBL L19 two-way loudspeaker design.
High-Frequency Controls: We cleaned the rear-panel high-frequency level controls and checked their operation through the adjustment range.
Driver Assemblies: The JBL 116A woofer and LE26 tweeter sections received inspection and cleaning as part of the speaker service process.
Crossover Assemblies: Accessible crossover boards and connections were inspected and cleaned during servicing.
Cabinet & Grille Detailing: Our team cleaned and detailed the walnut veneer cabinets, front-baffle surfaces and brown grille assemblies while retaining their classic vintage appearance.
Final Preparation: Both speakers were reassembled and prepared for functional testing and final listening evaluation.

After Service / Final Testing
Following service, the speaker pair underwent functional checks and a final listening evaluation.
Woofer Output: The 116A low-frequency sections were evaluated during playback, with low-frequency reproduction checked on both speakers.
High-Frequency Output: Both LE26 tweeter sections were evaluated electrically and acoustically as part of the finished two-way loudspeaker systems.
High-Frequency Controls: The rear-panel adjustment controls were checked after cleaning to evaluate their operating consistency.
Stereo Operation: Both speakers were evaluated together for tonal balance and left/right output consistency.
Final Listening Test: A final listening evaluation was carried out to assess overall speaker operation and stereo performance.
Final QC: The speaker pair completed its visual and functional quality-control process before preparation for sale.

CONDITION

Technical Condition
JBL 116A Woofers: Both 8-inch woofer sections were inspected for mechanical condition and evaluated during playback testing. Low-frequency operation was included in the completed functional evaluation of the speaker pair.
JBL LE26 High-Frequency Drivers: Both cone-type tweeters were inspected and evaluated electrically and acoustically. High-frequency operation was included in the final speaker-system testing.
Crossover Networks: The crossover assemblies and accessible connections were inspected and cleaned during service. The completed speaker systems were evaluated during final playback testing.
Rear High-Frequency Level Controls: Both controls were cleaned and evaluated through their operating range, with their adjustment function included in the final inspection.
Driver Electrical Condition: DC resistance measurements were evaluated in relation to expected driver-model values. These measurements are distinct from the speaker system’s nominal impedance rating.
Complete Speaker Operation: Both speakers completed final functional and listening evaluation as a stereo system.

Cosmetic Condition
Cabinets: Walnut veneer cabinets retaining the warm wood-grain appearance of the classic JBL L-Series. Light signs of age and previous use remain on the cabinet surfaces.
Front Baffles: Black front panels with the traditional JBL L19 woofer and tweeter arrangement.
Woofer Assemblies: Both JBL 116A woofer cones, surrounds and visible mounting areas are shown in the product photographs.
High-Frequency Drivers: JBL LE26 cone-type tweeter assemblies are installed on both front baffles.
Grilles: Two brown fabric grille assemblies are included, retaining the classic JBL appearance shown in the photographs.
Rear Controls & Terminals: Rear-panel high-frequency adjustment controls and wired speaker-terminal assemblies are present.

Your JBL L19 speakers will be professionally packed by HQaudios using protective materials suited to their bookshelf size and vintage construction.
The cabinets, front baffles, woofer and tweeter areas, grille assemblies and cabinet corners will receive appropriate protective cushioning. Foam protection and reinforced corner protection will help reduce movement and impact during transportation.
Both speakers will be securely boxed, with additional outer-carton protection or double boxing used when appropriate for the shipment.
