PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The JBL L112 is a classic 3-way loudspeaker from JBL’s early-1980s home audio lineup, combining a large white-cone woofer with dedicated midrange and dome high-frequency drivers in a bass-reflex enclosure.

Each speaker uses a JBL 128H 12-inch low-frequency driver, paired with the LE5-12 5-inch cone midrange and 044 1-inch dome tweeter.

The three-way system uses crossover frequencies of approximately 1.1 kHz and 3.7 kHz, allowing each driver section to operate within a focused frequency range.

Front-panel Mid Frequency Level and High Frequency Level controls allow adjustment of the upper-frequency balance to suit room placement and listening preference.

This pair features JBL’s distinctive white woofer cones, black front baffles, black grille assemblies, and walnut-finish cabinets.

HQAUDIOS RESTORATION & TESTING

Before Restoration

When this JBL L112 pair arrived at our workshop, the complete speaker systems were inspected before service and final preparation.

The wood cabinet surfaces showed age-related scratches and cosmetic wear.

Both midrange sections showed light cosmetic denting around the center dust-cap area during the incoming inspection.

The grille assemblies also showed normal age-related wear.

The woofer, midrange, and tweeter sections of both speakers were electrically checked as part of the incoming evaluation.

During Restoration

Our technicians cleaned, inspected, and serviced the pair while preserving the JBL L112 driver configuration and system layout.

Driver Inspection: The 128H woofer, LE5-12 midrange, and 044 high-frequency sections were checked individually on both speakers.

Electrical Checks: Electrical measurements were taken across the bass, midrange, and treble sections to compare operation between both speakers.

Level Controls: The Mid Frequency Level and High Frequency Level controls were checked during system operation.

Cabinet & Exterior Detailing: The walnut-finish cabinet surfaces, front baffles, and exterior components were cleaned and detailed.

Grille Assemblies: Both grille assemblies were inspected, cleaned, and prepared for final presentation.

Speaker Connections: Rear terminals and accessible signal connections were inspected as part of the functional check.

After Restoration / Final Testing

After service and preparation, the complete pair underwent final functional testing.

Woofer Output: Both low-frequency sections were checked for proper operation.

Midrange Output: Both midrange sections were checked during complete system playback.

High-Frequency Output: Both tweeter sections were checked during system testing.

Level Controls: Mid and high-frequency adjustment controls were checked during operation.
