Sound Character
The JBL 4312 MK II takes the celebrated dynamic energy of the original 4312 and brings it into sharper focus.
The 12-inch woofer, in its front-ported cabinet, delivers bass that is tight, punchy, and remarkably fast. The midrange is forward and incredibly revealing, pushing vocals and guitars to the front of the soundstage with absolute authority. The true star of the MK II, however, is the titanium dome tweeter. It extends the high frequencies far beyond the capabilities of older paper cone tweeters, providing gorgeous shimmer on cymbals, precise spatial cues, and an expansive sense of “air” in the room.

Before Restoration
Before restoration begins, we thoroughly inspect the condition of the famous 12-inch white woofers, ensuring the cones, surrounds, and voice-coil movement are in proper condition and free of rubbing.. (Unlike foam surrounds, these cloth surrounds rarely degrade, but require careful alignment checks).
We place special emphasis on inspecting the delicate 1-inch titanium dome tweeters for any dents or imperfections that could impact their wide dispersion. The front-panel L-Pad attenuators are checked for oxidation, and the internal crossover networks are evaluated to ensure all components are within factory specification.
During Restoration
Our goal during the restoration of the 4312 MK II is to preserve its exact studio-reference sound signature.
The L-Pad attenuators are meticulously disassembled, cleaned, and treated with professional-grade contact restorer to ensure smooth, noise-free operation when tuning the speaker to your room. The crossover networks are serviced, replacing any out-of-spec capacitors with high-quality audio-grade equivalents to restore original crossover points.
The speaker terminals are cleaned for optimal signal transfer, and the internal wiring is secured. Finally, the cabinets are carefully detailed, conditioned, and restored to bring back their beautiful vintage luster, honoring the classic studio monitor aesthetic.
After Restoration
