JBL 4312 MK II Studio Monitor Speakers – Professionally Restored – Fully Tested – 1-Year Warranty
Professionally Restored by HQaudios – Fully Tested – Backed by Our 1-Year Warranty.
Up for sale is a breathtaking pair of JBL 4312 MK II Studio Monitors. As a highly refined evolution of the legendary 4312 control monitor series, the MK II bridges the gap between classic vintage dynamics and modern high-fidelity extension.
The 4312 MK II retains the heart of its predecessors – the iconic 12-inch JBL 2213H white-cone woofer and highly articulate 5-inch midrange – but upgrades the high-frequency section with JBL’s exceptional 1-inch titanium dome tweeter. This critical enhancement delivers a speaker that still possesses the visceral, chest-thumping “West Coast” slam, but with a newfound level of air, detail, and crystalline clarity in the upper registers.
Whether you are mixing in a home studio, building a dedicated listening room, or upgrading a premium Hi-Fi system, the JBL 4312 MK II provides a thrilling, revealing, and deeply musical experience that honors both the recording and the listener.

Sound Character
The JBL 4312 MK II takes the celebrated dynamic energy of the original 4312 and brings it into sharper focus.
The 12-inch woofer, in its front-ported cabinet, delivers bass that is tight, punchy, and remarkably fast. The midrange is forward and incredibly revealing, pushing vocals and guitars to the front of the soundstage with absolute authority. The true star of the MK II, however, is the titanium dome tweeter. It extends the high frequencies far beyond the capabilities of older paper cone tweeters, providing gorgeous shimmer on cymbals, precise spatial cues, and an expansive sense of “air” in the room.
This is a speaker that hides nothing. It is highly analytical yet fiercely energetic, making it an absolute joy to listen to rock, jazz, funk, and electronic music.
HQaudios Restoration & Testing Process
Before Restoration
Before restoration begins, we thoroughly inspect the condition of the famous 12-inch white woofers, ensuring the cones, surrounds, and voice-coil movement are in proper condition and free of rubbing.. (Unlike foam surrounds, these cloth surrounds rarely degrade, but require careful alignment checks).
We place special emphasis on inspecting the delicate 1-inch titanium dome tweeters for any dents or imperfections that could impact their wide dispersion. The front-panel L-Pad attenuators are checked for oxidation, and the internal crossover networks are evaluated to ensure all components are within factory specification.
During Restoration
Our goal during the restoration of the 4312 MK II is to preserve its exact studio-reference sound signature.
The L-Pad attenuators are meticulously disassembled, cleaned, and treated with professional-grade contact restorer to ensure smooth, noise-free operation when tuning the speaker to your room. The crossover networks are serviced, replacing any out-of-spec capacitors with high-quality audio-grade equivalents to restore original crossover points.
The speaker terminals are cleaned for optimal signal transfer, and the internal wiring is secured. Finally, the cabinets are carefully detailed, conditioned, and restored to bring back their beautiful vintage luster, honoring the classic studio monitor aesthetic.
After Restoration
Once restoration is complete, the JBL 4312 MK II undergoes rigorous acoustic testing under real-world listening conditions.
We perform frequency sweep tests from 20Hz to 20kHz to verify smooth crossover transitions and verify that the titanium tweeters operate properly across their intended frequency range. Finally, the speakers undergo hours of continuous listening tests across a variety of musical genres. We evaluate their transient response, stereo imaging, and dynamic impact to ensure they meet the strict performance standards expected of a JBL professional monitor.
Drivers, Crossovers & Cabinets
The integration of the modern titanium tweeter with the classic 12-inch woofer requires precise crossover alignment. The ability to tailor the midrange and high frequencies to your room using the front L-Pad controls makes this an incredibly versatile system.
Because the acoustic integrity of these components dictates the final sound, they receive particular attention throughout HQaudios’ restoration process. Whenever possible, close-up photographs of the drivers and front baffle controls are included, and additional photos or videos are available upon request.

Basic Use Guide
To help maintain the long-term performance of your vintage monitors, we recommend the following:
- Place the speakers on sturdy speaker stands to elevate the tweeters to ear level for the best stereo imaging.
- Use high-quality, properly gauged speaker wire.
- Periodically rotate the front L-Pad attenuators back and forth to keep the internal contacts clean and prevent oxidation.
- Avoid pushing your amplifier into “clipping” (distortion at high volumes), as this is the most common cause of blown tweeters.
- Keep the cabinets away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity to protect the veneer.
- Contact us anytime if you need assistance with room placement, amplifier matching, or setup.
