The Infinity RS4/B is a 3-way floor-standing speaker from Infinity’s celebrated Reference Standard series of the mid-1980s — the golden era when Infinity’s California engineering team was pushing planar tweeter technology into affordable home Hi-Fi.

Each cabinet combines Infinity’s famous EMIT (Electromagnetic Induction Tweeter) planar tweeter with a Polydome midrange and two 8-inch polypropylene woofers, mounted in a handsome enclosure with black baffles and real oak wood trim. The result is the signature Reference Standard sound: airy, detailed highs from the EMIT, a smooth and natural midrange, and deep, well-controlled bass from the twin-woofer array.

Sound Character

The RS4/B delivers the presentation that made the Reference Standard series famous: the EMIT planar tweeter produces sparkling, fatigue-free highs with an openness that conventional dome tweeters rarely match, while the Polydome midrange keeps voices and instruments natural and well-focused.

The twin 8-inch polypropylene woofers give the RS4/B a bigger, deeper low end than most speakers of its size — fast, articulate bass that stays composed even at higher listening levels. Imaging is wide and stable, and the overall balance leans musical rather than clinical.

This character makes the RS4/B equally at home with rock, jazz, orchestral works, vocals, and vinyl playback in a properly matched vintage system.
