The Active Equalizer is an essential part of the Bose 901 Series V system. Its equalization curve is specifically designed to work with the nine-driver layout, enclosure design, grille assembly, and room-reflection characteristics of the Series V speakers.

The equalizer provides Mid-Bass adjustment, Mid-Treble adjustment, an alternative bass contour, and left and right line-level inputs and outputs.

Do not substitute an equalizer from Bose 901 Series I, II, III, IV, or VI. The correct Series V equalizer is required for proper performance.

Cosmetic Condition

This pair is in Excellent restored vintage cosmetic condition.

The walnut-veneer cabinets present well overall and retain the classic Bose 901 Series V appearance. The black grilles, bronze-colored trim, rear driver panels, top surfaces, and terminal areas are shown throughout the product photos.

Normal signs of age and previous use may remain, including minor cabinet marks, small veneer imperfections, light trim wear, minor grille wear, or small surface variations visible under close lighting.

The included Active Equalizer may also show normal cosmetic wear consistent with age. Please review all photos carefully.

Placement Guide

• Position the speakers with the angled driver panels facing the wall behind them.
• Leave approximately 8 to 16 inches between the rear point of each speaker and the reflecting wall.
• Space the two speakers approximately 4 to 12 feet apart.
• Keep each speaker approximately 1.5 to 4 feet from the nearest side wall.
• Maintain at least 18 inches of open space around the sides, top, and bottom where possible.
• Place the speakers approximately 18 to 36 inches above the floor when using stands or a shelf.
• Keep both speakers at a similar height.
• Adjust placement gradually according to room acoustics and listening distance.

Important Vintage Audio Note

The Bose 901 Series V is different from a conventional loudspeaker system.

Its intended performance depends on the correct Series V Active Equalizer, proper equalizer connection, a suitable amplifier or receiver, correct room placement, a suitable reflecting wall, proper speaker spacing, and correct left and right channel wiring.

The equalized signal intended for Bose 901 speakers should not be sent to conventional speakers because the equalization curve is designed specifically for the Bose 901 system.
