PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The Acoustech XII is a solid-state stereo integrated amplifier from Acoustic Technology Laboratories, Inc. of Cambridge, Massachusetts – a company known for its early transistor amplifiers of the 1960s. The front panel is labeled “Solid State Stereo Amplifying System”.

The XII combines a phono preamplifier, line inputs and a power amplifier in one chassis. Each channel has its own High and Low tone controls, and the rear panel adds a Current Limiter switch, separate B+ fuses for each channel and a 160 W accessory outlet.

Before Restoration

This Acoustech XII was carefully inspected upon arrival to evaluate its mechanical, electrical, operational, and cosmetic condition.

The power supply, fuses, amplifier and preamplifier stages, controls, switches, input jacks and speaker terminals were checked. The electrolytic capacitors were measured against their rated values (within 10% tolerance), and the wiring and solder joints were inspected.

The inspection results were used to determine the work required for this specific unit.

During Restoration

Based on the inspection results, this Acoustech XII was serviced according to HQaudios’ technical standards while preserving its original design and sound.

Controls & Switches: The potentiometers, input selector and switches were cleaned for smooth, quiet operation.

Jacks & Terminals: The input jacks and speaker terminals were cleaned and checked.

Cleaning & Detailing: The chassis, faceplate and knobs were cleaned.

After Restoration / Final Testing

Once service was completed, the amplifier underwent comprehensive testing under real operating conditions.

Inputs: Phono (MAG), Tuner, Aux and Tape inputs were checked on both channels.

Controls: Tone, Balance, Level and Mode controls were checked for proper operation.

Listening Test: The amplifier underwent an extended listening test with a wide range of music to confirm clean output on both channels.

Final QC: Every unit must pass HQaudios’ final quality-control check before it is approved for sale.
