JBL 4311B Control Monitor Speakers – Professionally Restored – Fully Tested – 1-Year Warranty
Professionally Restored by HQaudios – Fully Tested – Backed by Our 1-Year Warranty.
Up for sale is a stunning pair of the legendary JBL 4311B Control Monitors. As the professional studio counterpart that inspired the legendary consumer L100 Century, The 4311 series became widely used in professional control rooms, small studios, mixdown facilities, broadcast monitoring, and portable playback systems during the 1970s.
The 4311B features JBL’s famous 12-inch 2213 white cone woofer (which famously runs full-range without a crossover network for maximum punch), a highly articulate 5-inch LE5 midrange, and the snappy LE25 paper cone tweeter. Finished in beautiful real walnut veneer with the iconic black front baffle, these speakers deliver the raw, uncompressed energy of a live studio session.
Whether you are outfitting a vintage mixing room or building a high-energy analog Hi-Fi system, the JBL 4311B delivers a thrilling, highly dynamic, and deeply nostalgic listening experience that puts you directly behind the mixing console.

Sound Character
The JBL 4311B is the absolute definition of the classic “West Coast” sound: punchy, forward, unapologetically energetic, and incredibly revealing.
Because the 12-inch woofer runs full-range without being choked by a crossover coil, the bass and lower-midrange response is lightning-fast and viscerally impactful. The 5-inch midrange pushes vocals, snare drums, and electric guitars out into the room with startling presence, placing the performers right in front of you. The LE25 paper tweeter adds a crisp, snappy high end that perfectly complements the analog warmth of vinyl records and vintage tape.
This is a speaker that excels at rock, funk, R&B, and jazz. It is dynamic, lively, and demands your attention, delivering a true front-row concert experience.
HQaudios Restoration & Testing Process
Before Restoration
Before restoration, we meticulously inspect the physical and electrical condition of the speakers.
Special attention is given to the delicate foam dispersion rings surrounding the LE25 tweeters, which often degrade over time. We also heavily evaluate the front-panel L-Pad attenuators (Presence and Brilliance controls) which are extremely prone to oxidation, and inspect the internal crossover components.
During Restoration
Our goal during the restoration of the 4311B is to preserve its legendary studio tone and rugged visual aesthetic.
The front-panel L-Pad attenuators are completely disassembled, deep-cleaned, and treated with professional-grade contact restorer to ensure smooth, static-free adjustments.
The tweeter foam damping rings are replaced with acoustically correct replicas. Finally, the real walnut veneer cabinets are carefully sanded, conditioned, and hand-oiled to revive the beautiful wood grain, while the black studio baffles are thoroughly detailed.
After Restoration
Once restoration is complete, the JBL 4311B undergoes rigorous acoustic testing under real-world listening conditions.
Finally, the speakers undergo hours of continuous listening tests across a variety of genres, evaluating their transient impact, stereo imaging, and ability to handle high dynamic peaks.
Drivers, Crossovers & Cabinets
The unique “full-range woofer” design of the 4311B requires the drivers to be in perfect mechanical health to sound their best. The ability to tailor the midrange and high frequencies to your specific acoustic space using the front L-Pads makes this a highly versatile monitor.
Because the acoustic integrity of these vintage drivers dictates the final sound, they receive particular attention throughout HQaudios’ restoration process. Whenever possible, close-up photographs of the drivers, cabinets, and baffles are included, and additional photos or videos are available upon request.
