PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The Cerwin-Vega DX-9 is a large three-way floorstanding loudspeaker built around a 15-inch woofer, dedicated cone midrange, and horn-type high-frequency section.

This exact pair is rated at 400 W with 4-ohm impedance and a 30 Hz – 20 kHz frequency response. The rear-ported cabinet design uses dual bass-reflex ports and a fused speaker input panel.

HQaudios inspected the complete pair, checked the driver sections and rear connections, reassembled both speakers, and completed post-service operation testing.

HQAUDIOS RESTORATION & TESTING

Before Restoration

When we received this Cerwin-Vega DX-9 pair, we inspected the woofer, midrange, high-frequency sections, cabinets, grilles, rear terminals, and overall physical condition.

The cabinets and grille areas showed age-related wear, so we checked the complete speaker assemblies before reassembly and final testing.

During Restoration

We inspected the speaker assemblies, cabinet and grille areas, and rear connection points.

Driver Sections: We checked the low-frequency, midrange, and high-frequency sections.

Rear Connections: We checked the rear speaker connection areas before reassembly.

Reassembly: We reassembled both speakers and prepared the pair for post-service testing.

After Restoration / Final Testing

We tested the complete pair for approximately 1.5 hours after reassembly.

Low-Frequency Sections: Both 15-inch woofer sections produced stable low-frequency output during playback.

Midrange Sections: Both midrange sections produced clear and consistent output through the vocal and mid-frequency range.

High-Frequency Sections: Both high-frequency sections produced consistent treble output across the pair.

Rear Connections: The rear input and fuse areas maintained reliable signal contact during testing.

Left / Right Operation: Output remained consistent between the left and right speakers throughout the final playback test.

Post-Service Operation: The complete pair operated stably through the final test cycle.

Technical Condition

Woofer Sections: Both 15-inch woofer sections were inspected and tested after service and reassembly. Both speakers produce stable low-frequency output during final playback.

Midrange Sections: The midrange sections in both cabinets were tested and produce clear, consistent output through the vocal and mid-frequency range.

High-Frequency Sections: Both high-frequency sections were checked during final operation testing. Treble output remains present and consistent across the pair.

Rear Connections: The rear input and fuse areas were inspected after reassembly, with reliable signal connection confirmed during testing.

Left / Right Balance: Both speakers were compared during final playback. Output remains consistent between the left and right cabinets.

Final Playback Test: Approximately 1.5 hours of post-service assembly and operation testing were completed on the complete pair.

Cosmetic Condition

Cabinets / Finish: The woodgrain cabinets present cleanly overall after service, while normal vintage marks remain visible along some cabinet surfaces, edges, and corners.

Front Baffles: The black front baffles are cleanly presented, with the complete three-driver layout visible and intact.

Grilles: Both black grille assemblies are present and installed. The grille areas present neatly overall with minor age-related wear consistent with use.

Drivers: Woofer, midrange, and high-frequency surfaces are cleanly presented in the final photos.

Rear Panels / Labels: Rear input panels, fuse areas, and identification labels remain present and readable.

Overall Presentation: A clean vintage DX-9 pair with age-related cosmetic wear remaining where visible in the listing photos. Please review all photos carefully for the exact cosmetic condition.
